![]() not closed due to covid as it looks like a few years. all the concrete has starting to crumble and roofs missing and the reinforced bars are rusty and exposed. i have been to 2 "shopping centres" which to say are derilict is bigging them up. i go for a lot of walks and get to see everything at ground level and i have to say the whole place is a mixture of dilapitated and modern. i wanted somewhere warm over the xmas/new year period and it has delivered. i am here for a month having a break from travelling for the last 2 years. please remember that i am writing this as we are still in the grip of covid and will bear this in mind. There has been an official map released to show s totally forbidden to enter zone.o.k.fair enough but what about the rest of this huge space? Are we to be excluded from enjoying this landscape for ever? After all, shouldn't we be able to ENJOY this stupendous place without such draconian controls? This is just the sort of thing that many holidaymakers will surely be upset about as, traditionally, this was a great place for roaming free and naked even! So, that seems to be the end of 'free roaming.'Īlthough there are a lot of naughty tourists everywhere, including here where rubbish has been left on the dunes rather than taken away with them, the controlling measures do seem rather over the top. There is, apparently, the threat of fines for transgressions but didn't experience or witness this although there are plenty of rumours circulating that drones and helicopters are being used to enforce a crackdown!!! Certainly there are signs and information boards about sticking to pathways as well as posts set into the sand marking these new routes. This is not the only such Park in Spain and these vigorous restrictions have only been put in place here with, seemingly, such force with park rangers ordering tourists back onto the designated paths. The official excuse is that it is a Natural Park and that this measure is to preserve it. There are now just a few marked pathways when walking from the Riu Palace end of Playa del Inglés and these take you only to the beachfront.
